Aims

For delegates to gain an understanding of drug and alcohol misuse by identifying common street drugs, exploring the motivations behind the use of drugs and alcohol by young people and discussing effective methods of intervention.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the legal classification of drugs

• Identify common drugs that are misused by young people today

• Examine the side effects of drug and alcohol misuse and the different methods of administration

• Recognise indicators of drug and alcohol misuse

• Explore different methods of intervention that can be used

• Identify different internal and external agencies that can be utilised to support people who misuse drugs and alcohol
