Aims

For delegates to gain an understanding of the condition of Epilepsy, its known causes and treatments, in order to effectively support people.

Learning Outcomes

- Identify the condition of epilepsy and its known causes
- Be aware of the different types of epilepsy
- Understand the effects that epilepsy has on daily living
- Discuss the importance of recording and monitoring seizures
- Have knowledge of the treatment of epilepsy, including anti-epileptic drugs
- Know what to so when a seizure occurs including giving rescue medication (optional)
- Understand the importance of health and safety in the home, at work and during leisure activities
- Demonstrate practical administration of Buccal Midazolam
